Government departments, port authorities, fisheries departments and public sector units in India buy marine safety equipment through the Government e Marketplace. This guide is for the officer preparing that purchase.
What GeM is
GeM, the Government e Marketplace, is the online portal of the Government of India for the purchase of goods and services by central and state government bodies. Launched in 2016, it lets a buyer search registered sellers’ catalogues, compare offers and place orders through the portal, with sellers registered and verified on it in advance.
MM Techno Plast on GeM
MM Techno Plast states a GeM registration; it is listed in our certification register with the registrations we state.
What to put in the specification
A tender for life-saving appliances is easiest to answer, and to compare, when it names the figures that define the product rather than a brand. From MM’s catalogue data you can specify:
- The model number, as it appears on the product page and would appear on any certificate.
- For a life jacket: the PFD type, the buoyancy in newtons and the maximum user weight. See PFD types explained.
- For a lifebuoy: the model, and the light and line to be supplied with it.
- The standard or approval required, and whether the certificate document must accompany the goods. Approvals MM names are as stated by MM; the register says which MM holds a certificate for.
- Quantities, sizes and the delivery destination.
What MM can supply for a tender
- A quotation against the model numbers and quantities specified.
- Data sheets for the models quoted, on request.
- Copies of the certificates MM holds (see the register), sent with the quotation.
Request a quote with the tender reference and the models you need, or call the office during working hours.
