MM lists four magnetic steering compasses under Marine Instruments, from Ritchie and Navtech. The choice comes down to how the compass mounts and how it is lit at night.
Bracket, surface or flush mount
A bracket-mount compass sits in a yoke that screws to a bulkhead or the top of a console, and can be tilted or moved. A surface-mount compass is fixed to a flat, level surface such as the top of the console. A flush-mount compass is set into a hole cut in the panel, so that little more than its dome stands proud: neater, but permanent. All three hold a liquid-damped card that settles quickly as the boat turns.
Ritchie
MM lists a Ritchie compass in two mountings, bracket and surface, both with an illuminated card for night steering.
Navtech 35 and 65
The Navtech 35 and Navtech 65 are both bracket-mounted, in black or white. MM lists the 35 as corrosion resistant, for a windshield or dash mount, and the 65 as illuminated, with a 12 V light for night steering.

Ritchie and Navtech are the marks of their respective owners. Any steering compass must be swung and a deviation card made once fitted, away from speakers, pumps and steel. Ask for a quote naming the mounting you need.
